Books Reviewed in Defender

Defender is known for the quality, range and informed discussion of the book reviews it publishes on defence, national security, international relations, military history and related topics. Those published in the journal since 2003 can be retrieved electronically as follows:

Some hard-copy versions of reviews published before 2003 are available by ordering back issues of the journal at Defender. This may involve payment of a small charge to defray postage costs.

The journal's book reviewers are chosen for their expertise in the subject of the book reviewed or, in some cases, their knowledge in a related or comparative discipline. Defender also employs ethical standards policies designed to produce objective reviews. In particular, great care is taken to avoid actual or perceived conflicts of interest between authors, reviewers, book publishers and the policies of the ADA as the publisher of the journal.

If you are interested in volunteering your services as a book reviewer for Defender, please read the journal's style guide and aide-memoire for reviews before contacting us. We are also happy to receive suggestions about books worth reviewing but please note the journal does not normally review works of fiction.
