Yesterday's federal police raids on the ABC were the latest chapter in the story of the 'Afgahnistan files,' the series of confidential documents leaked to the ABC exposed allegations of war crimes by Australian special forces soldiers.

Those allegations included stories of Australian soldiers killing unarmed men and boys in a number of incidents, prompting concerns that values were drifting within the army's elite forces.

It's the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Inspector General of the Australian Defence Force and it's not clear when that process will be completed.
